I learned to sew before I started school and made some simple doll clothes by hand until I was big enough to use Mom's real sewing machine, starting out with turning the wheel by hand until she was confident that I could use the foot pedal. My love of sewing continued through 4-H and Home Economics class where I learned many tips and techniques for turning out quality garments. When our children were young I made much of their clothing and most of my husbands western shirts. I also took in sewing projects for customers and made several brides maid and flower girl dresses and eventually made our daughters wedding dress.
I started out making hand tied quilts with large rectangular blocks and then took a quilting class in the 80's and fell in love with the art of precision cutting and piecing. I made a few queen size quilts that were quilted with the "stitch in the ditch" technique on my standard sewing machine and I have made many baby quilts. I always dreamed of having a longarm quilting machine and to be able to stitch those beautiful designs that I admired at quilt shows.
I am so excited that my dream has become a reality and Rising Sun Quilt Studio was established in 2016.
